News & Events News Leonardo's Dog II by Elisabeth Frink Leonardo’s Dog II by Dame Elisabeth Frink R.A is up for auction at Bonhams today as part of Paintings in Hospitals fundraising efforts. This sculpture was inspired by the stone dogs that guard the entrance to the Château de Cloux (now Château du Clos Lucé) near Amboise in France, the last home of Leonardo da Vinci before he died in 1519. Created in the penultimate year of Frink’s life, Leonardo’s Dog II, is a fitting tribute to her love affair with all types of animals over a four decade long career. Frink (1930-1993) was one of the leading British sculptors of her generation, capable of investing her works with an uncanny presence.
